Response to the 2016 Throne Speech

Below you can find the video and transcript of my response to the government's Speech from the Throne. There are a number of worthwhile initiatives in the government's plan, but there are many issues that they fail to meaningfully address, ranging from emergency preparedness and climate change to assistance rates and democratic reform.

Comments and concerns over the Massey Tunnel replacement bridge

The Massey Tunnel replacement bridge will be a huge undertaking with a current price tag of $3.5 billion. I have a number of outstanding concerns regarding the details of this project and how it might affect Delta, the Lower Mainland, and the province as a whole.

I certainly had to when faced with some of the farcical comments made by Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) in its extended examination of marine shipping for the proposed Terminal 2 (T2) at Deltaport.

Meaningful red tape reductions in B.C. require more than political posturing

The provincial government has asked British Columbians for input on how to best reduce red tape in government. In response, I submitted the following letter to Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction detailing real-world examples of red tape that people in Delta are confronted with when trying to access social services.
